Rewards
Understanding reward types and how to use them effectively
What are Rewards?
Rewards are what users receive for completing offers - the incentive that motivates engagement.
Each offer can include multiple rewards from various categories:
Coins
In-game currency
Soft or hard currency that users can spend freely (gold, gems, credits).
Items
Specific in-game items
Weapons, consumables, cosmetics, or crafting materials with direct utility.
Experience (XP)
Progression currency
Character XP, skill points, or mastery that advances user progression.
Trust Points
Reputation score
Community standing or honor points for positive behavior reinforcement.
Loyalty Currency
Platform rewards
Stacked platform currency redeemable for gift cards, crypto, and other rewards.
Coming Soon
Loyalty currency redemption system is currently in development.
Combining Rewards
Offers can include multiple reward types for greater perceived value:
- Complete Package: Currency + Items + XP (appeals to all user types)
- Progression Boost: XP + Skill points + Tokens (advancement focused)
- Monetary Value: Currency + Loyalty points (direct spending power)
Tip
Combining reward types makes offers feel more valuable than their sum. Users perceive greater value in variety.
Scaling Rewards
Match rewards to user progression and effort:
| Scale By | Beginner | Intermediate | Advanced |
|---|---|---|---|
| User Level | 1-10 currency, basic items | 10-75 currency, useful items | 75+ currency, rare items |
| Task Difficulty | Login: 10 coins | 7-day streak: premium currency | Monthly challenge: exclusive item |
Warning
Model economic impact, especially for frequent offers. Small rewards add up quickly across many users.
Best Practices
- Match effort to reward - Easy tasks get small rewards, hard tasks get large rewards
- Maintain variety - Rotate reward types to keep offers interesting
- Test and measure - A/B test reward amounts and track completion rates
- Clear communication - Show exact rewards with icons and amounts
